Whilst touring the immensely large SEMA Show this year, it was hard not to get hyped around all of the amazing innovative automobiles and accessories that lined the aisles of the Las Vegas Convention Center. When it came down to the wire, Toyota shone bright as one of the main contenders for product slated to the everyday consumer with it’s Kevin Costner Adventure Truck, Pizza Hut Pie Pro Tundra, and its long-awaited 2019 TRD Pro lineup. Coming in an exclusive color called “Voodoo Blue”, the Tundra, Tacoma & 4Runner were coincidentally the exact vehicles that we here at stupidDOPE were honored to test on the handpicked excursion called the Trail Trek Tour.
In addition to SEMA, an exhilarating evening at the Baja 1000 Qualifying, as well as being wined and dined by the ultra-swanky MGM Resorts, the handpicked Trail Trekkers were also able to take on the rugged desert terrain of Nevada in a successful attempt to test the capabilities of the three TRD Pro Series vehicles. For a full day, we were instructed to rail each automobile along the rocky trails of Wheeler Pass and we’ve got to say, each whip tested phenomenally. The Tundra’s sheer size made the course feel minute in comparison. The Tacoma’s ability to handle tight spaces was exemplary, but the all around versatile comfort and cabin quietness of the 4Runnerhas us sold on the premise of acquiring an off-road-capable vehicle in the near future. For 35 years, the 4Runner has developed directly from a consumer standpoint, offering user-friendly technologies that don’t break the bank.
